*Top Daily Self Care Routine*
Morning Self-Care Routine
Your morning self-care routine is a great opportunity to try these super simple ideas below to get your day started on the right foot.
Enjoy Coffee Or Tea
Start your morning self-care routine off right with a warm drink. No matter if you're a coffee person or not, there are many great decaf coffee and tea options for you to enjoy.
If you have a Keurig, we LOVE the Donut Shop K-Cups. They are super reliable, taste amazing, and really give you that extra boost to start your day off right!
If you're not much of a coffee connoisseur, there are plenty of yummy tea flavors that will get you energized to start your day. Need a recommendation?! Try the Tazo Matcha Mate Grapefruit Tea. It tastes great, and is easy to make. All you need is some warm water and you can place the tea bag right in your mug.
Journal
Journaling is a great way to have a mental check-in before your day actually begins. Depending on your schedule, journaling is great either during your morning self-care routine or at night; however, just be sure to stay consistent so you get in the routine of journaling each day if you want!
We LOVE journaling in a plain lined notebook. This is because you are easily able to jot down any and all ruminating thoughts you may have to help break that cycle and get your worries down on paper so you can start your day off with a clear mind.
Even if you don't have any anxious/ spiraling thoughts you just need to write down, you can still journal about what you are looking forward to that day, positive affirmations, etc. If you still don't know what to journal about, try searching on Pinterest or Google for some journal prompt inspiration.
Morning Playlist
Get yourself pumped up with some tunes that will boost your mood. Whether you enjoy listening to rock, jazz, pop, a productive music playlist, whatever genre, there's nothing like listening to your favorite music before you start work or school. Listen to music as you drive to work or while you're on the bus to school.
Create a morning playlist with songs specially curated to your own unique music taste. There's nothing worse then listening to a generic playlist and skipping half the songs.
We LOVE using Spotify (we personally use Spotify Premium which costs $10/month) because you can easily favorite and make your own playlists so you can listen to the music you love wherever you go.
If you are a college student, you can get Spotify Premium Student with Hulu and SHOWTIME for just $5/month!!
Afternoon Self-Care Routine
By the afternoon, you're likely feeling a bit tired and need a few self care ideas to make you feel energized. Read below to feel rejuvenated and get your groove back to rock your afternoon tasks.
Go On A Walk Outside
We all know that feeling... the mid-afternoon slump 🙁 If you feel exhausted and need a break from work or whatever task you are busy working on, consider going for a walk outside.
Walking is great for may reasons. You'll be exposed to the Sun so you'll be getting plenty of natural vitamin D. Also, walking is an easy way to burn calories without making it feel like your doing some difficult workout. The last thing you want is to do an intense workout in the middle of the day that will leave you feeling utterly exhausted!
Consider walking outside, even if it is just for 10-20 minutes. This will motivate you to move around. Furthermore, walking helps you get up from your desk or couch and stretch your legs and be active. There's nothing like a good lap around your local park or neighborhood to have you come back feeling rejuvenated to get sh*t done.
Take A Quick 15 Minute Nap
We get it.... the afternoon slump is real. So, if you are still feeling exhausted after taking a walk break, or are just so tired you can barely think straight, consider taking a short timed nap (if you are in a place where you can!). There's no use in trying to stay awake because you'll likely just be unproductive or not be completing quality work. Therefore, the next time you need some much needed shuteye, consider taking a short 15-20 minute nap.
Struggling to fall asleep fast mid-day?! Consider using a sleep eye mask to block out the Sun so you can get more sleep and spend less time trying to fall asleep.
Unplug- NO Phone
Another simple but effective daily self care routine is to unplug from your phone. Yes, you may need to check emails or text messages in the morning or nighttime. However, throughout the afternoon if you find yourself constantly scrolling on your phone and not getting as much work done as you would have liked, you should consider unplugging from you phone.
What does this look like?
Try shutting your phone all the way off and placing it in a separate room from where you normally do work during the afternoon. This way you wouldn't feel tempted to "quick" check your phone, which can sometimes end up being an hour long time sucker on your phone.
Hydrate
Another daily self care routine essential you must follow is staying hydrated throughout the day! I know it may be hard to remember to drink water. A water bottle helps serve as a reminder to consistently take sips throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water is great for you to feel energized, even during the afternoon. If you notice you experience headaches or brain fog, try drinking more water as these may be signs you are dehydrated.
Don't have a cute water bottle?! We've got you covered... we love the Arc Water Bottle. It has time markings to keep you motivated to drink throughout the day.
If you don't like drinking water, consider putting slices of lemon or water flavorings like Crystal Light in your water. This will give your water a little extra flavor and tastes amazing!
Night Self-Care Routine
Nighttime is a great time for some beauty self-care routine ideas to help you unwind and feel your best as you get ready for bed.
Face Mask
Paint Your Nails
A simple beauty self-care routine is an essential part of your daily self care routine. You don't have to spend tons of $$$ to truly pamper yourself. Consider painting your nails as part of a weekly self care routine you do to treat yourself.
We are OBSESSED with the Red Carpet Manicure Gel Nail Kit because it's a great way to have a professional looking manicure done in the comfort of your own home. Even better, we recommend using gel nail polish as it tends to wear better than traditional nail polish.
Sip Some Tea And Light A Candle
Another great daily self care routine idea to fully unwind at night is by setting a candle and just sipping some of your favorite tea. This way you can fully get a chance to mentally and physically prepare to fall asleep and get a restful night's sleep.
Consider trying the Tazo Calm Chamomile tea to just sip on a warm drink to chill and unwind. We also love lighting a candle at night to just get you feeling relaxed and more prepared for bedtime. The Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy in Eucalyptus smells amazing without being too strong and over-powering.
Read Something You're Interested In
Last but not least, read something your interested in right before bed. This is great because it allows you to daily learn something new while calming your mind even more.
Choose a book that you are interested in reading. Otherwise, you won't be motivated to read the book and it will just end up in a pile of other books you weren't interested enough in reading on your bookshelf.
No matter if you are interested in self-help books, fiction, thrillers, whatever the book may be, choose the books you know you'll like.
Need a book recommendation?! We've got you covered.
We LOVE Brianna Wiest's 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think. This is a self-help book that will make you reflect on your own life. Even better, the book is broken into a series of short essays so you when you get tired easily finish the chapter in no time and pick up at a new essay the next day.
This post was all about the daily self care routine you need to follow.
